However, the more impor- tant subtle aspects of your educational process will be reflected upon and remembered a lifetime. Our current society is such that it is much easier to criticize than to do. It is much easier to display vengeance rather than courtesy. It is much easier to serve as a hindrance and an obstruc- tionist rather than to serve as a helper. The fol- lowing quote from Theodore Roosevelt clearly de- picts the message that I want to share with the Class of 'I SSS. It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, Whose face is marred by the dust and sweat and blood: who strives valiantlyg who errs and comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming: but who does actually strive to do the deeds. Silver Lake, hopefully, has provided you a forum to stumble and yet grow, to error and yet achieve, and to gain a perspective of life that will be beneficial to all members of the class.
