A Special Individual PTM3' Z? 2115 f ' ' L C ,.........w.f. imagine for a moment a large school with its share of problems and happiness, a school divided into two campuses in different towns. This is what lVlr. Douglass Coupe inherited when he became the principal of Silver Lake Regional High School in our sophomore year. Although this was his first year as principal, he was by no means a stranger to either the students or the system. He had been the headmaster of the Kingston campus in our freshman year and had seemed to know all of us by name after the first week. After he became principal, he was faced with many problems which required tact and intelligence. Often these were difficult and unpopular decisions. ln spite of this, lVlr. Coupe was able to maintain good rapport with the faculty and student body. Towards the end of the '80 school year, however, lVlr. Coupe handed in his resignation in order to rejoin the counseling department of the Kingston campus. Although almost everyone was disappointed by this decision he was respected all the more for it. Other principals coming to Silver Lake will certainly have good points of their own, but lVlr. Coupe left a hard act to follow. 3
