Dedication Dedication, character, integrity, loyalty, commitment are qualities found in very few people. Yet these very high ideals describe Mr. Hardie Pierce, for he exemplified them every day of his life. He not only maintained these standards, but encouraged his students and players to develop them as well, in a constant effort to urge others to improve themselves. Mr. Pierce was proud of being a teacher and a coach and deeply loved his family, school and community.'Futhermore, in the words of colleague Martha Christian, he reminded us that there were people not intimidated by power, people undaunted by ridicule. Finally, Mr. Pierce personified the word gentleman to the end. On behalf of the class of 1980, as well as all who knew and loved him, the 1980 TORCH is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Hardie Pierce.
