Literary Editor Margaret Woodbury Business Editor James Callahan . •i S) Every year the Editor-in-Chief describes working on the yearbook as a tedious, time con- suming job with unbelievable pressures. Yes, we did spend a lot of time working on this book, but the people who made this book as good as we believe it to be, were the greatest people I ' ve had the pleasure of working with. We enjoyed being together and the job was finished so quickly. We wish to thank Mr. Go-Go, Mr. Bennett, and our photographer Pat Conolly for all their advice, patience and help, and I wish to thank all the other editors and members of the Yearbook Staff for doing a good job in a great way. Lincoln VOCATIONAL There is a saying among soldiers: I dare not make the first move but would rather play the guest; dare not advance an inch but wou rather withdraw a foot. This is called marching without appearing to move, Rolling up your sleeves without showing your arm. Capturing the enemy without attacking. Being armed without weapons. There is no greater catastrophe than under- estimating the enemy. By underestimating the enemy, I almost lose what I value. Therefore when the battle is joined. The underdog will win. The longer I live the more certain I am that the great difference between men, the great and the insignificant, is energy-invincible determination-an honest purpose once fixed-and then the victory. Argenziano, Principal A WORD FROM OUR PRINCIPAL Little time Kes ahead if we are to turn man toward man. And as painfully small as our efforts are, all who are concerned must pit their efforts against those forces that would tend to separate us. Each of us in our own way must avoid the paths that in the past have offered the seductive semblance of safety. Now the directions and the programs must be created to meet the chal- lenge, for there is no alternative. I can only hope that you turn the pages of the Silver Lake Torch so that you can begin to unfold the mysteries and uncertainties that beset you, the student, and perhaps more importantly, so that you can have lasting memories of your school, faculty and friends.
