DEDICATION II, For his giving freely of his leisure time in order to aid all who ask him for help; for his devoting of all his talents to his students at any and every moment; the Senior Class dedicates the 1965 TORCH to Mr. Robert J. Coakley. Mr. Coakley graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1953 and then . . . surprised myself more than anyone else by studying to become a teacher. In 1958, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the State College at Boston, where he is now doing graduate work. After practice teaching in the city, Mr. Coakley came to Silver Lake. He prefers the relaxed atmosphere of the country, where emphasis is placed on the individual student, to the impersonal tension of the city. In addition to teaching various sci- ences, Mr. Coakley acted as director of the Science Fair and coach of the Freshman baseball team for three years. Ever since coming to Silver Lake, he has served as advisor to the Junior Class and has greatly contrib- uted to the success of the past five Junior Proms. = X . 4 V Vv N X As for future plans, Mr. Coakley wants to remain in the classroom rather than join the administrative branch of edu- cation. The one stimulus that might induce him to temporarily depart from his vocation would be, as he says, the first com- mercial passenger flight to the moon. vV '
