MR. QUINLAN, CLASS ADVISOR CLASS HISTORY . Who can ever forget the wonderful years we had at Silver Lake? It seems only yesterday we were that awkward group entering the seventh grade of 1959. At our first assembly with words of encouragement by Mr. Silvester, we discovered that half of us would be attending the Silver Lake Annex, the former Kingston High School. Day by day we parted on our way to classes. The lucky few who attended the Annex will never forget the extra holidays they had because the heating system did not al- ways work! Though miles separated our learning, our class spirit brought us together for special activities. We acted as one through the Student Council and put on dances at Silver Lake and the Annex. . . . Upon entering the eighth grade, our class at last was working together academically and socially. It was a year of decisions as we looked forward to high school. We had to choose our courses and subjects, many of which would be quite new to the curric- ulum we had been used to. ... In 1961 we became the green Freshman. Immediately our class was caught up in the spirit of Silver Lake. Two Freshman, Christopher Binns and George Burrows, won varsity letters on the Cross-Country team. Margaret Brennan was chosen co-captain of the newly organized drill team. In football, basketball, and base- ball, we made outstanding contributions to make their seasons quite successful. Many represented Silver Lake at the Music Festi- val. At the regional Drama Festival, Lydia Weston won an acting award. Our Freshman dance, Swing Into Spring was a great success. Officers leading us were: John Lyons, President; Margaret Brennan, Vice President; Susan Darsch, Secretary; Cynthia Hen- rich, Treasurer; and Nancy Fitzgerald, Historian. ... As Sophomores we kept up the brisk pace started as Fresh- men. We sold class pins, which added much revenue to our ever growing treasury. Several of our boys were elected to the varsity football and basketball teams and several of our girls cheered them to victory on the Cheerleading squad. Our social for the year was Walk Right In. In the Spring we ordered our class rings, symbols of membership in the class. Officers for this year were: Christopher Binns, President; Margaret Brennan, Vice Presi- dent; Susan Darsch, Secretary; Cynthia Henrich, Treasurer; and Deborah Hollman, Historian. ... In 1963 we became the big Juniors. Margaret Brennan was chosen queen of the Homecoming dance. Early in the year we began to plan our Junior Prom, the big event of the year. A beau- tiful pagoda highlighted the decorations of our Oriental Twi- light. Terri Coffin was chosen queen with her court: Shirley Wise, Elaine Nicholson, Lydia Weston, Cynthia Elwell, Deborah Hollman, and Susan Darsch. As the year rolled to a close, antici- pation of the excitement of our Senior year began to mount. Class officers leading us were: Christopher Binns, President; Margaret Brennan, Vice President; Susan Darsch, Secretary; James Benotti, Treasurer; and Deborah Cellar, Historian. ... At last we were Seniors — and as full of senioritis as any class could be! This year ' s officers remained the same as the last. Our football squad accomplished THE MIRACLE; we defeated Plymouth-Carver. Margaret Brennan was chosen queen of the F.F.A. Harvest Ball. The Senior Class Play, Arsenic and Old Lace, was our biggest success. Besides selling more tickets than any previous class, we presented a play that was enjoyed immense- ly by the aud ience. Excellent performances by the entire cast and hard work by the back stage hands combined to make this the hit of the year. Climaxing the year was Senior Week — the banquet, awards night, class day, and the reception. With the advent of graduation, we ended our high school career and stood anxiously, a little doubtfully, on the threshold of life. 20 MRS. NATHANSON, CLASS ADVISOR
