BRA IN POWER Causing Dragonalifies In this past year, a little of the new combined with a lot of the old and made up the academic department of Silver Creek High. New teachers made this possible by bringing in new methods and ideas for teaching and adding a bit of creativity to Jessons. These new teachers were Mrs. Mellon, Spanish, Mr. Lewis, English, Miss Waters, choir, and Mr. Zike, Government. New classes helped develop the education department. A French class and an accounting ll class were added. New books ioined with old methods provided new ways in the language departments. Tapes along with the books and records were specialties in Spanish and French class. The drama class took trips to the Actors Theatre in Louisville to see how a professional play is really done, while the speech class was entertained by the debate team from Bellarmine College. With 96 Members The band started off a good year with a .record membership of 96 students, 49 of these members were freshmen. The band seems to be the most active organization in the entire school by presenting approximately 50 performances. The first performance was Band Day, Sept. 16, at Indiana University in Bloomington.
