We are born into that world which engulfs us with thousands of these feelings . . . fear, love, hate, and hope. Silver Creek experienced these feelings in many ways throughout the year 1970-71. Many upperclassmen feared the all important college entrance tests, while freshmen may have feared the new experience of a high school situation. Being placed in a locker 0r trash bas- ket can be a traumatic experience for a greenl7 fresh- man. The love for fellow citizens was shown several times by SC student organizations. These organizations of- fered aid to area families by providing them with food baskets. Also apparent were the many friendships formed by students throughout their school years. Although hate may be a strong word to express an emotion, 'Silver Creek students might have felt this at various moments. To see a rival team injure a SC player or to participate in a program not appreciated by stu- dentsycould bring about this feeling. Finally hope, as students we all hope for success aca- demically and as sports fans we had many hopes and de- sires for the teams and coaches. However, there is an ever-present hope that our world, country, and eommu-- nity will continue to grow and prosper in years to come. As we all look to our future, we share together one outlook - COLOR OUR WORLD WITH HOPE. This special person was Mr. MeCartin. Under their guidance, Student Couneil had a truly sue- Cessful year. The Booster Parade, as usual, was the first activity of the year. This years prize winners were the Science Club with first place and second plaee going to the Class of 772. The spirit paddle, was awarded to the class of 771 for their outstanding decorations during Spirit week. A new attraction was the tug-of-war among Classes. Winners of the boys was the elass 0f '71 and the winners of the girls went to the elass 0t 72. As a fund raising project, the eouneil sponsored a smr-hop. With this money and some from the treasury a new sign hear- ing Silver Creekis name was purehased. Sunshine spon- sor Mrs. Cornett held true to the name given her by SC students by supporting the ideas and decisions made by Sunshine officers and members. After the formal initia- tion of new members, various projects were started. Among these projects were the annual food baskets for needy families and the attendance of church. Oh, that was the Spanish Club singing Spanish Christmas carols. Mr. Hoffman, their new spon- sor, made a new revision. Starting this year, member- ship is limited to only those students who are now en- rolled in a Spanish course. Although the revision cut the membership considerably, it did not stop the club enthusiasm. They entered a float in the Booster Parade Which awarded them honorable mention. They also Sponsored a soc-hop as their fund-raising activity. SPANISH CLUB OFFICERS: J. Beyl, Treas.; T. White, V.P.; F. Ev- eritt, Pres.; D. Prather, Sec.; Mr. Hoffman, Sponsor. The list of activities is long and var- ied for this organization. The year starts out with a formal initiation of new members and the annual FHA- FFA-SC Letter Club Hayride. The girls also include their fathers in some of their activities with the Daddy Date Night Dinner. Another project which turned out to be a community interest was the Drug Abuse Program. The Annual Val- entine Dance was again co-spon- sored by FHA and FFA. Incoming freshmen were honored by a tea. The final event of the year was the achievement banquet which hon- ored deserving members. .t IJEIL'EM7'213fRRX3531:1?i: , 1F: 11 FFA Who said that FFA is a. club consisting of only boys? Dragons Compile 19-2 Record, Capture MSC and Holiday Tourney The 1970-71 Dragon basketball team is one that will be remembered for a long time to come. Expected to win between 14-17 games, the Dragons came on to win 19 out of 20 regular season games and tie the best rec- ord ever for a SCHS team. Add to this feat a fourth Hol- iday Tourney title, tthe most titles won by one schooly and also the Mid-Southern Conference crown, and you have a fantastic season.
