O In Our Time 1969-1970eA year of action. Students were on the move. This was the year of mora- toriums, mini-skirts, maxi-coats, pierced ears, and flair legged pants. Boys dreamed of hav- ing the sharpest car in town, but were willing to come to school in everything from dune buggies to Mustangs. Students always seemed to question standards that were status quo. This year Silver Creek reached the 600 mark in enrollment and bulging classrooms made this fact a reality. Five new members were added to the faculty to accommodate the expanding classes. Our community grew also. New subdivi- sions began to be developed and many new families suddenly became part of the town. Troops began to be withdraWn from Viet Nam bringing a ray of hope for peace and an end to the war a little closer to a reality. As students faced the draft, a draft lottery came into effect. This promised a more im- partial selection of those who were to serve their country. This was the year of man,s first moon land- ing, a first for the United States and a first for the world. As the world viewed this out- standing achievement, students began to view a future with unlimited opportunities. Both the good and the not-so-good occurred. SC. had several defeats during the basket- ball season and lost the Holiday Tourney. In spite of these disappointments, students at SC. kept busy to make this a memorable year. These events filled our lives with excite- ment fear .. . new experience . .. de- feats success in the past hope for the future and all of them happened IN OUR TIME.
