Languages are essential and can be used in many careers. Besides helping to obtain jobs, they round out a personhs intellectual and edu- cational background. Latin, the fundamental language, is taught by Mrs. Werle. Spanish, a widely used and spoken language, is taught by Mrs. Croyle. Mrs. Werle,s facial expression shows that studying Latin requires complete attention. Ricki Gunterman breaks the traditional Spanish pifiata at Christmas time. English Students Utilize New Aids English is the most advertised, sought-after, and taught language in the world. To use cor- rect English at all times is not easy for most, but we have the chance to- learn the funda- mentals in the English courses offered at Silver Creek. Three years of English is required to graduate. College preparatory English is taken by seniors who are college-bound. For those seniors not interested in college, a business English course is offered. Mr. Goodlett enjoys relating the ageless beauty of Elizabethan writing to his senior literature classes. iiOf course sophomores enjoy Julius Caesar: I teach itI7, Speeches, a frightening requirement of Sophomore English, is demonstrated here by Shirely Stricker.

Unknowns, Equations Intrigue Mathematicians Mathematics is constantly being applied in the everyday life of the common person. To better themselves in this field, Silver Creek offers four years of math for students to prepare themselves for college. It also offers a year of general math. This year the beginning and advanced years of algebra were taught by Mr. Prather. Mr. Taylor taught general math; and advanced math, geometry, and general math were taught by Miss J ohnson. m1 . , .
