One of the first things made in agriculture is a tool box, which these boys are working on. Voe . '3. 'p i In shop class the boys work on various proiects. Drawing and drafting help students develop the capacity to think, to ex- press ideas understandably and to interpret the ideas of others. The Homemaking Department of- fers a four year program including six major areas: clothing, foods, family relations, housing, child care, home nursing and first aid. Problems studied in Vocational Agriculture include with the local community, farm machines, soil, and crops. Supervised farming is included in the curriculum. Woodworking courses, while teach- ing safe use and care of tools and machines, instructs students in de- sign, wood joinery, and craftsman- ship. Metal Shop develops the basic skills in metal working. Mr. Ted Arnett Mr. John Tucker

Mrs. Nina Diefenbach M. Baker demonstrates the different ways of making coffee to her classmates. The iunior home economics class had a mock wedding in which David Dold was the groom and Brenda Gilbert was the bride. E. Miles assists L. Gehlbach on the sewing machine.

Good Sportsmanship ls Taught . . . In the field of physical education, phases of the over-all program of to- tal education are properly developed under trained, experienced and con- siderate leadership. These special phases are: physical development and fitness, motor skills, emotional matur- ity and social adjustment. Physical education is taught by Mr. Denton and Mrs. Booker. Promoting and maintaining the health of students and providing a safe, heatthful school environment are the chief goals of the health and safety department. Freshmen and sophomores receive instructions in first aid procedures for all types of accidents; safety measures for the home, school, and office; and in the general makeup of their body and how it works; all necessary ingredi- ents for making an effective, happy individual. In physical education girls learn the fundamentals of golf. Mr. Ed Denton Both boys and girls enioy the two weeks square-dancing.
