As you look o'er the pages of Silver Leaves of '54, you will see many different scenes of school life around the clock at Silver Creek. This school year has brought many changes including changes in the building, in school activities, and in faculty. These changes have led to one important thing-o tirst-closs school. We dedicate this book to Mr. Dee Hand, who has given moy hours of time and work to help make this possible. For the time and effort put forth by him, we are very grateful. She is in charge of all com- mercial classes, is sponsor of the school yearbook, sponsor of Learning one of the three R's is this general math class. In 'he Latin II class, the sfudenfs made proiecfs concerning latin. Their teacher, Mrs. Mildred Werle, teaches English and first year Latin. She is also sophomore class sponsor. Their teacher is Mrs. Ruth Baker, who is in charge of all home economics courses, as well as being sponsor of the iunior class and sponsor of the Sunshine Society. w: 'r ML -. -- iwz.,.;.f Teaching these students the correct procedure to follow in working math problems is Mr. Allen McManis. He is supervisor of the Silver Creek elementary schools. Adding to the knowledge of these students concerning world history, Miss Fannie Stout shows that our present freedoms of a democracy were begun long ago, and that it is our duty to preserve them. She teaches freshman and sophomore English. In this class, the main topic of discussion is psychology. i Teaching these students is Mr. Charles Albert, who teaches geography, history, and physical education. He coaches the iunior high basketball team. As the voices ring out each day, we know they are coming from the Glee Club. Here are our singing music-makers, who are directed by Mr. Orren Briggs. Along with this, he teaches drivers' education. To become better acquainted with all types of literature, this dais works together in reading and studying novels, biographies, poetry, etc. The class is assisted by its instructor, Miss Rowena Standiford, the librarian. She is an advisor of the school paper, and in addition, teaches English. +:- 4 ' ', learning about the human body and the activities which are profitable to good health are the main functions of this class. The teacher is Mr. Edward Denton. He is basketball coach as well as a teacher of physical education. Experimenting is only one of the many different activities of this general science class.
