It is through these clubs that we are able to accomplish many worthwhile projects and promote harmonious relationships and understanding. Membership in a club helps us to realize the importance of working with those around us. In clubwork, we work side by side to accomplish our purposes. We learn the qualities of a leader; and thOugh not all of us can be leaders, it is just as important to be a loyal follower. Through the Sunshine Society and Hi Y, many activities are carried on to better the community and the school. The SC. Club is open to anyone having earned a letter in sports, in music, or in any other school activity. For those interested in agriculture, the Future Farmers of America is a worthwhile organization. Another organization from which enjoyment and skill is obtained is the Rifle Club. The friendships and interesting activities we shared in these clubs will be long remembered. Since the club was organized in 1950, it has won many awards. Also the Glee Club presented the Christmas program and sent representatives to the District Music Contest at Hanover. Several members of the band participated in the District Solo and Ensemble Contest at Hanover, Saturday, February 14, and later the band journeyed to French Lick to play for the Lions Club Convention. Besides playing and marching at the ball games, the band presented a concert January 22 in appreciation of their new uniforms. A school is represented by the team it places in the field of competition. Sports- manship of a school is not only shown by the team, but also by the entire student body. Sometimes a small minority who show poor sportsmanship may give the school an unfavorable reputatiou. Here at Silver Creek, we have endeavored to display a fine spirit of sportsmanship. In this we have succeeded. Our sports program has been encouraged and patronized by a loyal community. No sports program would be complete without the guidance of its adult leadership. To those who have done the coaching, we owe our sincere thanks. They have worked long and hard to build better teams, whether it be on the hardwood, on the track, or on the diamond. We also have an intramural program. At Silver Creek, a noon basketball league functions during the winter months. Football and softball dominate during the spring and fall. In this all boys who are interested have a chance to play. And last, but not least, the cheerleaders have also given their best to bring a fine cheering section into action.
