S.' as 3 group of timid and lost Freshmen. After e. few weeks of school we became acquainted with everyone and were initiated by the husky Sophomores. We recovered from thin with only 3 few oeauelitiee end after the initio- tion, we felt like fullefledged members of Silver Creek High. The sponsor. selected for our Freshman year were liu Fannie Stout and Mr. Barry Regan. Our class officers were Bob Weber, President; Kenneth Dreyer, Viee-Preeident; 1nd Shirley Walker, Secretary and Treasurer. Teddy Kranz again led the Dragons with 15. Feb. 8 Silver Creek 55 Mitchell 27 Heme Silver Creek repeated an earlier season victory over Mitchell by again swamping the Bluejackets. S. C. led at the half by 20 points out this time went on to win easily. Hinton -tickled the tas- sles for 18 pOints. 1196 Feb. 18 Silver Creek 46 Scottsburg 45 Home Silver Creek closed their season successfully by ward- ing off a last desperate rally by the Scottsburg War- riors. Although the Dragons never were behind,they had to fight to keep the lead. Butch Hinton endzgap- tain Wilford Kopp were high for the Saylormen with 14 each. TRACK On Feb. 17 Coach Hoban issued a call for track candidates.i Approximately thirty-five responded. He mentioned a few items about track and gave some re- quirements. As yet no schedule has been made but we hope to have several meets and improve our last year's record. One of the things which Mr. Hoben stressed was that we didn't fare too badly last spring as it was the first year Silver Creek had a track team since 1944, which meant there were only a few boys with any experience. BASEBALL At this writing nothing has been said about base- ball. However, it is understood that Silver Creek will not have as large a schedule as last year. The success of this year's team seems to depend on whether or not Coach Seylor can develop some good pitchers; Third base, second base, and catching are weak spots. These weaknesses were caused by graduation and we hope to at least equal last years record. SECTIONALITOURNEY Silver Creek reached the semi-finals of the Sec- tionel Tournament before bowing out to the Jefferson- ville Red Devils. Georgetown was an easy victim, faL; ling to the Dragons by the score of 59-32. Bob Popp surprised everyone, including himself, when he threw in 13 points. Charlestown put up a better battle but tumbled 48-38. Harry Hinton played a brilliant game on defense and scored 20 markers also. Then the Jeff game: The first half was nip and tuck all the way With the Creekers ending up on top second half found the Red Devils firing away and hit- ting with amazing regularity. They were red hot and just couldn't be stopped. The final score was 58-47, but the same was a lot closer than the score.indicated. It was fairly rought with seven men fouling out; four of them Dragons. Hinton with 15 and Hutchinsoh ziith; 14 were high for S. C. Jeffersonville kept up their scoring ways and completely bottled up New Albany 1n the Sectional final, winning 42-51.
