CTEIGER COUNTER 1945 46 ln thus hustoruc year we entered Muss Perrault s kundergarten un the old Babcock School and ummeduately began reactung to each other and to our new envuronment ln order not to become over wrought from all our actuvuty we had a dauly rest peruod on our mats Ron Wrught took thus suesta ser uously and always had to be awakened when ut was over Thus first year ended wuth an umpressuve graduatuon un the hugh school gymnasuum 1946 47 Now as first graders we held uam sessuons wuth our rhythm band We really clucked wuth our truangles stucks blocks and tambourunes 1947 48 Thus was the year of the turtle our pet un Mrs Smuth s room When we passed through the halls from Mrs Baker s room we were brubed unto sulence by the cat and mouse game lWe were supposed to be the proverbually quuet muce of coursel 1948 49 The socual whurl of the thurd grade uncluded Audrey s Valentune burthday party and a class pucnuc at Sunset Bay Park where we revolved happuly and duzzuly on the merry go round 1949 50 Fourth grade untroduced gypsues unto Mrs Payne s room and saw us eagerly competung un spellung contests Durung Easter Vacatuon we had our first trup by school bus to the marvelous Shrune Curcus 1950 51 Fufth grade found some of us wearung cutuzenshup letters We worked hard to earn these marks of dustunctuon Thus was the year we met Huck Funn Jum Pap and the rest of Mark Twaun s mem orable characters as Mrs Wentworth read Huckleberry Funn aloud to us 1951 52 Now we moved to the newly finushed elementary school where the boys of our class vued for the honor of beung patrol boys ln June we were guests ata program guven by the lower classes and the fifth grade presented us wuth corsages 1952 53 Junuor Hugh at last' We moved back to the hugh school buuldung paud our first class dues held our first class meetung and our first dance The year was clumaxed by a pucnuc at Chestnut Rudge Park 1953 54 ln eughth grade we welcomed a new member Carl Schober and we made our stage debut wuth Abe luncoln un Illunous A less enuoyable first was our untroductuon to Regents' 1954 55 And now we were freshmen' Faye Lunton and Russ Vacantu were chosen kung and queen at our unutuatuon dance sponsored by the senuors Socual Studues classes took trups to vusut two dufferent undustrues the Ford Assembly Plant and Great Lakes Color Pruntung lnc 1955 56 ln our sophomore year we found out who could take ut and who could not un Buology lab oratory Our talent show assembly program was a bug success and so was our first orchestra dance Funally there was a contest to see whuch could rause the most money the gurls baked goods sale or the boys scrap druve 1956 57 Our former classmate Mary Porpuglua reuouned us un September The .lunuor Play Our Hearts were Young and Gay was our second dramatuc attempt Everyone found the gay twentues dress styles hughly amusung but ut seems now that we were settung a new fashuon trend and dudnt know ut Carl Schober and Joyce Cordt were kung and queen of our first prom whuch we shall never forget 1957 58 The orbut of our class had wudened to unclude new persons and actuvutues Wanda Futtry uouned us for thus last year as dud Erhard Hottenroth from Germany the first foreugn student to attend our school We presented The Ruch Full Lufe as our senuor play and uts tutle could well descrube our last year at Sulver Creek Central After Whute Chrustmas our senuor prom the New York Trup at Easter Class Nught and Baccalaureate we reached Commencement wuth enough power to take us far Who knows?
