l DEDICATION Y HE H1-Litas of 1951 is dedicated to the worthwhile cause of world peace. The problem of securing and maintaining world l peace is constantly on the mind of evetryone who understands that only through wolild peace can all the nations of the world achieve happiness and security. Our government in every possible way is striving to reacph this W goal and we, the Hi-Lites staff, wish Ho acknowledge its work up to the preserit time. l Peace is a state of quiet or tranquillity in which there is absence or cessation of war. This peace can be gained only with the cooperation of all the governments of the world. The state of quiet and tranquillity that folflows this political unity can anti will bring speedier progress as well as pltosperity Our government realizes this and hasi been i trying, not without avail, to bring about political unity with many nations. It will W continue to do so in the future and weiall hope that soon our world will be a place in which all the nations can live.together in peace, happiness and prosperity. l 4 i l i

FOREWGRD E, the Hi-Lites Staff of 1951, have chosen as the theme for the yearbook the working of the executive branch of the Federal Government. We have made our school a minature executive branch, with our principal as President, the Board of Education and the classes and activities as the different depart- ments of our government. In carrying out the theme we have learned more about how a democracy works. Our school is really a small scale democracy. We have leaders and top-ranking citizens in our school. The students have a law making body of their own in the student council. Democracy can continue only as long as its people take an interest in their government. Our youth are the bases of a democracy. Through education they will become the leaders of tomorrow. By going to school and partici- pating in extra-curricular activities, they pre- pare themselves for the job ahead. Our school has done and is continuing to do a good job of preparing its citizens for tomorrow. 3
