Var ity The Varsity should take league, was Coach Edgar Brandt's comment when quizzed about the future ot his team. Five returning lettermen who are out to prove that their coach's prediction is not idle speculation are: Steve Pate, Don Kortangen, Carl Moore, Norm Davidson, and cap- tain Manuel Macias. The 'starting five will also receive much assistance from Randy Bream, Dick Hall, Ron Kiskis, and several others who are up from the J.V.'s The team's pre- league record to date is 3-2, with wins over Warren, Santa Fe and El Rancho while succumbing to Calhi and C.l.F. powerhouse, Whittier. The only cloud in this bright picture is the loss of Fred Mihaylo, out tor the season with illness, and Steve Viera, out with a bad ankle. In sum- mary, one might say that the league trophy, which has occupied the same niche in the gym for the past two years, may very well grace that same position for another year.
