The crucial playoff against Anaheim, won with an overtime score of IO-9, let the Spartans advance to C.l.F. competition, where, in the first round ot battle, Sierra was beaten by Ox- nard High School. In the tough Upland Tour, the Spartans also took third place with a record of three wins and one loss. The team was led by co-captains, Mike Anderson and Dave Stoufter, both ot whom earned honorable mention on the C.I.F. team and were selected for the all-league, tirst team. Earning honorable mention in the Eastern League were Chris Grittith and Forrest Cornell. High point men on this year's squad were Ron Weinstein, John Winkleman, John Thelin, Ray Jesse, Jack Thayer, and Al Ontiveros, C.l.F. representatives were Ron Weinstein, Jack Thayer, and Ron Caler. Captain John Winkleman placed third in the Fullerton Tournament, while AI Ontiveros and John Thelin took third and fourth respectively at the Cerritos Invitational. District medal winners were Ray Jesse, John Lewis, John Thelin, Jack Thayer, and Ron Weinstein.
