Senior Rodger Tracy set the varsity record for the new two mile course with a time of 10:18. He also became the ninth member of the Sierra Century Club, by scoring 100 points in a single season. Bill Howard set the Junior record for the two mile course with a time of 10:26. At the Mount San Antonio Invitational Cross Country Meet, Richard Joyce and Rodger Tracy placed eleventh and twelfth, respectively, in a field of seventy-seven runners. The Junior Varsity team took third place in the Suburban League, with an overall record of five wins and four losses. Bob Garrett set the Junior Varsity course record with a time of 11:21. The Frosh Team had an overall record of three wins and five losses. Outstanding Frosh'harrier, Craig Beauvais, set the Frosh course record with a time oi 12:20. MR. The crucial playoff against Anaheim, won with an overtime score of IO-9, let the Spartans advance to C.l.F. competition, where, in the first round ot battle, Sierra was beaten by Ox- nard High School. In the tough Upland Tour, the Spartans also took third place with a record of three wins and one loss. The team was led by co-captains, Mike Anderson and Dave Stoufter, both ot whom earned honorable mention on the C.I.F. team and were selected for the all-league, tirst team. Earning honorable mention in the Eastern League were Chris Grittith and Forrest Cornell.
