Rf SE PF INCESS C W As the City of Whittier float pass- ed maiestically down Colorado Boulevard in the 1959 annual Tour- nament of Roses, Sierra High School Princess Donna Goetze smiled and waved at the crowd. This was the climax to an adventure for Donna which began with a slip of paper which informed her that she was being considered, along with 19 other girls, as a candidate for Sierra Rose Princess. When the judges se- lected seven finalists, Donna was among them, and shortly afterward, she was notified that she had been chosen to serve as one'of the five princesses. She then participated in a publicity campaign with represen- tatives of the other district schools, which included luncheons, speeches, newspaper and magazine publicity. Donna represented Sierra well at this activity, and carried the Spartan name to a position of even greater respect and pride.
