Mrs, Francis Heussonstamm Art Club American Life is a course which teaches the student to know and appreciate his Ameri- can Heritage. The country's his- tory, in war and in peace, is vividly presented by the capable instructors of the department. From the War for Independence to the United Nations, all stu- dents are given the opportunity to learn the basic principles of democracy, as they apply to the world and to their own lives. But it takes a third ingredient, a catalyst, to bring forth the mag- nificent from the simple. Provid- ing this third ingredient is the purpose of Sierra High School's Art Department. Students are given the opportunity to create and express themselves in all media, including sculpture, tex- tiles, drawing, mosaic, and painting. Students have a chance to show their work and enter many contests which come up during the year.
