The girls brought their parents into the activities with two playdays, the Dad and Daughter Volleyball Game and the Mother- Daughter Potluck. Calypso Caper, the G.A.A. Installation Pot- luck, where new officers were installed and out- standing members were given awards, was the highlight ofthe year. VARSITY One of the finest athletic tests of the in- dividual, with great demands on his coordi- nated physical responses, is tennis. The Spartan tennis team led by Bill Pate, Gil Parra, and Bruce Clausen, established a 5-5 record for the practice season. The Varsity posted two wins over Bell Gardens and one each over Santa Fe, Buena Park, and Artesia. Bellflower, Santa Fe, and California each de- feated Sierra once, while Warren had two early season wins over the Spartans. The JV's defeated Santa Fe three times, -Bell Gardens twice, and Cali- fornia, Buena Park, Warren, and Artesia each once. They lost to La Habra, California, and Bellflower. Neil McAllister played first sin- gles, Dave McCoy and Tom Hicks were the first doubles combination. l37
