Social Sriellve Society Hell Cross To acquaint students in sociology with social relations and how to apply them is the formal purpose of the So- cial Science Society. ln order to further this purpose more effectively, the So- ciety invited the famous Silver Tones and the St. Malachy's Choir to sing during Brotherhood Week. Guest speakers from state agencies addressed the Society on social problems through- out the year. Other activities included field trips to local agencies, state Courts and institutions. The members have donated their time, effort and material support to less fortunate individuals, with the purpose of fostering Christian principles. 1, ell 'IC Artistic achievement and social suc- cess marked the efforts of the Glee Club for the year, Sweet voices and musical ability, under the direction of Sister Mary Theophane, were blended into delightful productions which thrilled enf thusiastic audiences with every perfor- mance. The amazing Glee Club Chorus, the scintillating Melody Maids and the A Cappella Choir brought into each offering a charming variety of style, music, and costuming, The pre-Christmas Musicale and the Gilbert and Sullivan M. S. Pinaforeu were the important public presentations of the year, The Mixer following the Musicale and the traditional Winter lnterlude drew capacity crowds and were among the most successful and popular dances of the season. The performances of the group conf sistently sparked school assemblies, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas concerts constituted highlights of the year. Performances were given at the Mercy lnfirmary and the Home for the Aged conducted by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Finally, members of the Glee Club participated in the annual Catholic Music Federation Concert at the Civic Opera House.
