This year Siena has put itself on the map. Alright, so maybe it was because welve been blamed for contaminating the rest of the world, but at least were known. People may recall Siena as Oh, yeah, that school with the measles . How many of you have intro- duced yourself, said you go to Siena and have people take three steps back? Nice feeling isnit it? But alas, this too will pass but Siena is now known. it may have posed an inconvenience for some, but for most it was kind of amusing. There were exceptions, however, especially those who actually contracted the disease. To them those spots were no joke. it was also disheartening not to be able to watch our star basketball players in action. it was also quite interesting going to classes. Halt! Who goes there? Let me see your pink card! of the Saints can be feit. The people at Siena are not oblivious to the world around them. There is a community in which we reside and which we must help in any way we can. For different people this takes different forms. One of the main activities on campus is Big BrothertBig Sisters. This is a way of directly helping someone in need. The kids love having someone they can taik to and do things with. The Brothers and Sisters also get a great deal out of the experience. it's a chance to share their love and their time with someone who truly appreciates it. There are many other ways in which the students at Siena volunteer their time. Those who tutor, teach CCD, voiunteer in hospitals, adopt grandparents. and other forms of volunteer work truly share their God given gifts. Some give to others by giving gifts to the elderly nuns or needy chiidren at Christmas time, giving gifts of food, or donating money to a worthy cause. All of these are ways in which we spread the Siena spirit to the community. May that Spirit never diminish. E ven beyond our campus the charitable works Top: Ring side seats Above: Whitey at work.
