Community . . . 1967 was a quiet year for Siena. But was this the calm before the storm or the silence of the apathetic? There was a change; some of us were bewildered, a few exhilarated, and some resentful. But was the symbol of that Change a new building or a new idea? To many, the promises and expectations of last year became the disappointments and failures of this year. There was a change, however, which gave a new direction to our thinking. As we moved toward a realization of our status as a community, we became aware of other communities, of other men who did not demand our diplomas, but our convictions. We began to realize the extent of our failures. There were no TV cameras this year, no mass demonstrations. Change was subtle, hard to find. Miracles didn,t happen, even if we expected them. The great society did not arrive, nor did we expect it. But we saw what we had accomplished, and what was to be done. There was much to be dissatisfied with, but Siena could never be the same. 1967 was this year, and SAGA 67 is our attempt to capture its experiences, its moods, its faces . .
