. . . Progress Another class of collegians will graduate this year but not, as classes in the past, before making the innumerable mistakes of youth. Their pre- decessors swallowed goldfish; they demonstrated for civil rights. Stufling phone booths, once popular, was replaced by social work. All night parties of the past gave way to Teach-ins on Christian commitment or Viet Nam, which were equally lengthy. Collegians never change, or do they. One would expect more from this generation, however. Should not its exposure to the world have taught it by now that injustice, inequality and inhumanity are those things which make life most challenging? After all, a peaceful, Christian world would be a terribly dull one, or would it. Members of this generation of collegians are found at Siena, and here, as everywhere, they have created considerable turmoil. Neighborhoods were renewed, backward children tutored, self-help projects established, perhaps just one man discovered what it'means to be a person, separate and distinct from all others, and a community reacted violently. Because a hierarchy was asked to care, a college was asked to be silent. Instead, it shouted and its cry was CHANCE. It became a symbol of change, uncom- fortable and foreboding to people set in their ways, and these people resented it. They found a solution, however, for they attributed the turmoil to iiyoung, upstart kids? and thus, in their own minds, destroyed it, or did they. Siena wants n0 finer representatives than those iikidsf and the SAGA is proud to recall their year.
