Roberts THE BACKSTAGE CAST Producing Alice in Wonder- land was a rewarding experi- ence for all the members of the 57 Club and various recruits from outside the club. The cos- tume committee, under the direc- tion of Sherry Mulliken, created original costumes to make ordi- nary students look like cater- pillars, Cats and cards. The scenery committee, directed by Lyn Mulliken, wrestled with such problems as making Alice dis- appear. The properties commit- tee. under Gina Westphal. made croquet mallets that looked like tlamingoes. J o s i e Bachman's make-up committee painted the cast green, yellow. white and pink. Maurice Riddell and her committee plastered the walls and ceilings with Alice posters. Judy Schreiber arranged Green Room parties after the perform- ances. Thanks to the etlorts of these committees and the Madri- gals, who sang background mu- sic, Alice was a smashing suc- cess. OFFICERS OF THE 57 CLUB President ............ CE.A.A. The Girls' Athletic Association has had an especially active and successful year. lt started right ofl' the first week of school with the Welcome Tea, a part of the big-sister plan designed to make the Freshman feel at home in the Upper School. The Foot- ball Dance. given in the fall. with the assistance of the Boys' Ath- letic Association, had a great turn out. Roberta Hall, the Social Chairman, did a spectacular job on the decoration. During the winter we sponsored teas after our home games. The Mother- Daughter Banquet was the best ever-the theme being My Fair Lady. We succeeded in drawing up a new and lower point system that will go into ellect with each new freshman class. The success of the G.A.A. has been due to close cooperation with the gym department. Miss Fine and Mrs. Forster have certainly helped us in providing the coaching and enthusiasm for our winning teams. Scene at Mother-Daughter Banquet 1 Lti.A.A. The B.A.A. has sponsored a Winning Season this year, in spite of the odds against our teams. We had a Father and Son Dinner to celebrate our victories. We have also tried to have ban- quets at the end of all ottr sports seasons. but we only succeeded in doing this at the end of football season. When everyone attends, which never happens, there are one hundred and one members. near- ly half the school. No one can say he hasn't heard of the Glee Club. This year we've done the usual things: a song, or two, at Thanks- givingg Christmas carols to ac- company the Christmas playg a musical, Down in the Valley g and commencement m u s i c . Whenever there is a lull of any kind, we work on a Broadway show tune, or something ap- proaching popular music. But, the musical each year takes up most of our time and we hope it shows. The Madrigal group was larger and stronger this year. We ac- tually sang a few madrigals, so we could keep our erudite name. We participated in a Middle School program and in Alice in Wonderland .
