We feel we have accomplished this with our theme 'New Glories of '76.' Emblazoned on the front cover is the flag of our country, 'Old Glory,' which is a em c A (E -(Mo Mibio tribute to the Bicen- tennial graduating class of 1976. Fea- tured on the endsheets is the new Lanier, a tribute to the future graduating classes. Thus we felt assured of capturing photo- graphically the 'new glories' of this school year, symbolizing history-making moments of 1976, just as 'Old Glory' did in 1776. A Ngw' £ viy 1976 Meu L i uM f-figlv Cdml In this year of historical reflections, we wanted to recapture some of the ’old glorious days’ at Lanier, and at the same time, depict the new glories of our year 1976. We attempted this at the introduction of each section. We hope you enjoy this 'Bicentennial Tribute’ to former and present Lanier students. They are left with a lasting memento-their class rings. This ring marks the beginning and the end of their years here at Lanier. It marks the trying moments, and the laughs of joyous times. As the Seniors march in for their ring ceremony, they are more than proud of being apart of this. For the Seniors this means more than just a ring. It's carrying the pride of the school, three long striving years, and most of all the memories and pride that they take in being a pan of what they consider to be The Mighty Class of '76. So now they take with them their biggest expenses, that will always be priceless. 49 Qetu tS PwpCM (}Otyth Senior sponsors Mr. Bill Minnis and Ms. Rosemary Pedraza assist graduates before the ceremony, and seniors look themselves over. Lanier's shut-out defense surprisingly blanked five teams during regular season. Some of the outstanding defensive players were Andres Zepeda, Victor Garza, Chemo Nieto, Eddie Vargas. Some of the outstanding players charging the offense were Joe Ramirez, Lupe Moran, Delton Tease as they demonstrate their style on the follow- ing pages. That sin- gle loss, however, didn’t underestimate the Voks’ ability, for they lost by only one point. Freddy Medina was high scorer in this tournament, averaging seventy points total in the four games played. Joel Gonzales was right behind Freddy with a sixty-four point total. While in conference with a group of students, Coach Anderson mentioned that he had two goals to set this sea- son: First, to get his game point average to 75 per game, and second, to get his opponents’ point average at 65 per game. At that time in the season, however, his players were averaging 72 points per game and opponents were doing 65.1 overall. IH35at5outhcross To students, faculty, and families of Lanier High School, Centeno Family Stores take pleasure in congratulating the Lanier High School Class of 1976. Your graduation is a major milestone in your lives, and your accom- plishments a proud addition to the history of your school. We also share in the happiness felt by our customers who are parents of the students in the Senior Class, and we understand the pride felt by the administration and faculty at this time of the year. Both Lanier High School and Centeno Family Stores have grown and changed over the years, adapting to the needs of our West Side citizens. Many of this year’s graduates rode in Centeno grocery carts as youngsters, and some will one day push youngsters of their own through a Centeno Supermarket ... or send their children to a Centeno Theatre on a Saturday afternoon ... or shop Centeno for their school clothes. When that day comes, Lanier High School and Centeno Marketplaces will still be growing and responding to our community’s needs . . . and we at Centeno will still be enjoying the warmth and happiness reflected by our customers and neighbors as each Graduation Day occurs. Sincerely, fl whole new way to ran a Supermarket.... STORE HOURS 9 B.m. to 9 p.m. 9 a.m. to 3 p m. Mon. thru Sat. Sunday Beck Reyes-President Carlos Duenas-Vice Pres.
