In the spring of every year energetic students may be seen completely absorbed with chemistry manuals, old English tests, or perhaps French drill pads. They are preparing with concen- trated study for an elimination test. The students having the three highest scores in each test go to Miami University to take the State Scholarship Tests. The competition is always very strong. Each year the seniors participate in the Senior Scholarship Test conducted by the State Department of Education. The test in- cludes the five general subjects: mathematics, English, history, science, and reading. These tests help stimulate in students a desire for further knowledge and bring to light hidden abilities. In 1950 a student court was organized to try violators turned in by the members of the Safety Patrol. For first offense a student is Warned, the second time he receives a week's detention, and for a third offense he is given two weeks' detention and to be dismissed must pass a test on safety. Bay Boller was student judge in 1952- 1953. In the spring, at recognition assembly, the members of the Safety Patrol are recognized for their year of service.
