It consists of representatives from every class in the school and has at least one faculty adviser. The activities of the Council were initiated by a get-acquainted party for all the students and teachers new to Sidney High. The class presidents and presidents of all major organizations were invited to at- tend. All the activities of the Student Council are financed through pledges by the students to the Student Chest Fund. The most out- standing of the activities are the publication of the handbook and the sponsoring of outside talent for assembly programs. Each year the Council provides for the presale of tickets for football and basketball games. At the end of each six weeks period the honor roll is computed under the Counci1's supervision. Locker clean-ups are carried on monthly throughout the year, and during mid- winter a courtesy campaign is organized. Instructions are given to each room in school in case of a fire, and then fire drills are practiced during the fall and spring. Attendance plaques are awarded each six weeks to the home rooms having the highest percentage of attendance. At the end of each year a lost and found sale is sponsored by the Council. The articles left in the lost and found department of the school are sold at auction for a few cents each. This year's Student Council was privileged to have as its secre- tary-treasurer, Bob Conrad, the first male member to hold that office in the history of Sidney High School.
