Carl Crouse. Paul jones, ti boy of eighteen, found the complex prublemx of finishing high sflwol, winning his girl. and entering College suddenly beginning to bear down on him with great weight. And the harder he struggled. the more his troubles! if 4 Amina, lmiclt- ' As the fourflane highway of life approaches, the senior class pauses to look hack along the trail left hy the class of '48. To prove to the other classes that we aren't in a rut, we hackftrack to point out some of the important signposts. We first drew up to the portals of S.H.S. in a covered wagon with Governor johnny flvlitchell holding the reins. He got us safely past freshman initiation and our first school dance. Frosh mem' bers of Pep Club and Vo Ag worked like regular beavers to make the midfwinter carnival a success. Rounding out our first year we left the buckboard behind, and grabbed our trusty knapsacks and can' teens for a class picnic at Rattlesnake Cave. First signpost of our sophomore year was Def tour, Flash Flood. Wliile on detour, we junlsed the covered wagon and got in the groove with LaVern Draper at the wheel of our Model-T. We gathered up enough hot platters throughout the year to throw two allfschool hops. Several of our classmates joined in with the shows to give out with their musical talent to make the LodgepolefSidney vocal clinic a success. About lvlay first spring fever hit us, and we all jumped into the faithful lviodelfl' for a class picnic at Point of Rocks. Robbing the treasury of profits that we had accumulated during our freshman and sophomore years, we selected a doodlebug of high character and fine morals to see us through our junior year. We promptly christened it Smitty, after our new governor. Before the first week of school was over, we had learned the art of forcing the underclassmen to put their spare nickels into our newly inherited coke machine. Adding to our glory, we were informed that The Whole 'l'own's Tafkingu about the immense success of our class play on November 18. Our junior boys did their part in establishing the Maioons in the '-16347 sports world. Eight junior boys joined the SfClub ranks with major letters. Our junior road was lined with pop corn stands and other concessions which were so sue' cessful that we were able to put on the best ban- quet at whiih any senior class had ever been guests. Vfe sent our warnings to the senior class to dig out their diving suits in preparation for at' tending this banquet of which the tlzenie was La Mer. Tragedy struck when our governor was ref sponsible for sending poor Smitty to the body shop. After carefully repairing all damages done, Will? Take 'er easy. Ma, the iug's 'bout empty. Hround the cider barrel are Berna Whitmire, Fred Peters. Marshall Hendricks and Pam Kinne at the senior-sponsored Sadie Hawkins' Dance.
