Wischhusen, CMgr.1 The Sidney Cross Country team had a line season, going undefeated in duals, triangulars, and quadrangular meets for the second season in a row. They also placed well in several invitational meets against schools from the Susquenango Association, the Southern Tier Athletic Conference, and Pennsylvania. Following are these results CJ. V. in parentheses1: Chenango Valley, 15th out of 30 CJ. V. Sth out of 251: Delhi, 7th out of 19 U. V., 2nd out of l51: Sid Stock, 9th out of 21 U.V., 2nd out of 191: Windsor, 2nd out of 15 CJ. V., lst out of 211: Western Division, 2nd out of 8 CJ. V., lst out of 81: Whitney Point, Sth out of 24 U. V., lst out of 201: Susquenango Association, 3rd out of 14 CJ. V., 3rd out of 141: Section IV, Class B, 4th out of 15. The following boys are seniors and did a fine job in their Cross Country careers: Mark Baldwin, Bob Brush, John Cribbs, Pete DeSalvo, Gary Elliott, Tim Elwood, Jess Johnson, Mike Lynch, Bill Martin, Jerry McNulty, Rod Popple, and Jeff Wilklow. Jess and Rod were especially outstanding, lettering for four straight years. Rod was 10th in the Association and I lth in the Section IV Championships, while Jess was 3rd in the Association, Sth in Section IV, and 38th in the New York State Public High School Championships. This team has great potential for the future, with letter winners Rusty Northrop, Vinnie Lynch, Bill Phillips, Tom Davidson, and Rod Wilson returning next season. 24

Versage. The Warriors had an outstanding year finishing second in the always tough Susquenango League. In the league opener the Warriors defeated Walton on their home field 27-6. Sidney dominated the game on a rain drenched field. Walton's only score came on an intercepted fumble and 60 yard run. The game ofthe year was Chenango Forks and the Sidney boys were flying high for this one. In the see-saw battle the Warriors played their finest game of the year and broke the Fork's three-year unbeaten string 28-l4. Tied for first place Sidney traveled to Windsor for the last game. Victory would give Sidney the League Championship. However, that afternoon there was a nightmare in store for the Warriors as they fumbled and were intercepted ll times. Windsor won 42-25 and tied for first place with Chenango Forks. The Warriors had to settle for second place. To top off the season 10 Warriors were named to the Susquenango All-Star team. First team for the second year were G. Washington, who led the league in pass receptions for 2 years, and T. Grow, who was second team also. R. Mirabito was first team defensive back and second team wide receiver. Second team choices were D. Plummer and R. Voltz, running backs.-R. Robertson, linebacker and K. Smith, center. J.V.
