Maroon Cv HE Maroon and White is the student news publication of the Sidney High School. This paper, which has a staff of high school students, is also edited by the students. The exact date of the first Maroon and White is not exactly known, but it can be placed at about 1925. In its earliest years, the Maroon and White was a four sheet mim eographed newspaper with monthly issues. It sold at five cents a copy and had a circu- lation of about one hundred As the Sidney school grew, so did the Maroon and White During the late twenties and early thirties the paper received the backing of several town merchants As a result it became a twelve page printed monthly magazine with more emphasis on the literary side than on news and White About 1935, the Maroon and White revert ed back to the mimeographed copy. It con- tinued to be mimeographed until this year. During those years between 1935 and 1951, the Maroon and White changed from a bi- monthly, to a monthly, to a semi-term paper and back again. No definite records have been kept to show the number of is- sues each year. This year, however, the Maroon and White, with Jeannette Gregoire as Editor-in- Chief, Mrs. Anna Heimer as advisor, and twenty five staff members, is making plans to become a printed newspaper with a bi monthly circulation They are having a sub scription campaign for this as the Reflector goes to press PKUNI Run HLLMA BREMSER LUCILLF ABRAMSON ANN KNIGHT MARILYN HORT JFANNETTE GREGOIRF SALLY SEGALL SHEIIA GERIG FRANCES BORCHFRT SFCOND ROW HARYLYN HANG CECILF MIKULAK SHARON MASON DORELLIS CRONAUER MARIIYN LOKER NANCY HORT DONNA JUCKFTTE JACQUELIN LOGAN JOAN MISNER THIRD ROW FIIZ ABETH MILL R ALICE ROSA MARJORIE WICKES PAULA NELSON BEVERLY BAKER SANDRA DIMORIER PHYLLIS VOU ERT JEANNE BURLISON CONSTANCE ISBELL PATRICIA GREENE PATRICIA RUNYAN BACK ROW CAROL SUE DAVIS RUTH HEDIGER EDWIN ROGERS ROBERT GELDFR JAMFS MAC LACHLAN ELLIOT DANFORTH RUSSELL DOOLITTLE NANCY BUTLER CAROL SIKS iRS HFIMFR . . . . , Y ' : I , . Librar Club I Z HE Library Club is a service club com- posed of about 40 girls in the junior and sen- ior high school. These girls are scheduled to work in the library one period a week and they do this during one of their study halls. While in the library, club members check books in and out, suggest good reading to fellow students, do shelving, filing, process new books, type, and do any other of the various duties that go along with library work. This year they participated in the night of fun parade and won 2nd prize with their COS- tumed representation of This Is America . During Book Week in November they put up a special display in the case in the lower hall composed of figures made out of colored pipe by Bowen, new books headed for popularity. They put up bulletin boards for special days and on topics such as football and other items of teen age interest. Their regular business meetings are held on one Thursday noon of each month and sometimes they have a party after their regular meeting. In past years girls who have worked in the club for two successive years get a bracelet and the club pays for 5 the cost. A similar project is under consideration this year. Last June they picked a day for their picnic when it didn't rain, an unusual item. They fin- ally assembled girls and food and proceeded to Gilbert Lake. It was the first picnic for the Library Club and they hope it will become a cus- cleaners This was to illustrate ' Spring Comes tom R ding by Betty Cavanna and Blocking Back FPONT ROW MARGARET BLRLISON GLADYS BFGFAL CECILE HIKULAK KALMA CHASE IATTI ROGERS YRNA BARTIETT IRNA TOGNOLA GLADYS BOWRFR MARIIYN LOLDFN SECOND RON PHYLLIS TURTUR DONNA GARRISON SALLY SFGALL JANIS MILL FR BETTY DLTCHEP PHYLLIS VOLLERT BARBARA WILSON BARBARA BESAW BEVERLY SHAVER PAY WILSON LLELLA JACQUES THIRD ROW MARY CHILLETTE VIRGINIA MINER BETTY FINR CHARLOTTE MANGAN PRUDFNCE CLARKE MARIE PECR FRANCES BORCHERT ELIZABETH MILLER KARENE BLRDICK PAYE KNAPP PATRICIA RUNYAN ANN WIGHTMAN BACK ROW JOAN LAhIh CATHFRINF MANGAN PHYLLIS CLRTIS BARBARA NICKES MARYON KARLSON CAROL SIMS LINDA ANZER BETTY ANN DINGMAN NANLY VILLELCU JANET WICRLS LEONA i MRS LNBAR . . , . . .
