Council f N an effort to encourage and promote par- Jticipation in the activities and duties of the school, to secure a more equitable distribution of its honors, and to assure each student just reward for the effort he has put into these activities, the Council sponsors and directs a point system through which the individual A- chievement Award is earned. In addition to this, the Council annually supervises the forming of a program of social activities for classes nine through twelve. This year, in an effort to ac- quaint the community more closely with the workings of the school, the Council directed a two-day parents' visiting period at the school during which parents visited classes and ming- led with the faculty at an informal tea. During basketball season, the Council also conducts luncheons after the home games for participat- ing players and cheerleaders and after game dances in the interest of inter school relation ships The Sidney Central Student Council is de veloping leadership and initiative among stu dents establishing better cooperation between faculty and student body and fostering a strong school spirit NLY people under 21 vote here. Each year all the students in high school vote for the Student Council officers. She is here as the student teacher on the Honor Society sponsered Student Teaching Day. ational Honor Society CHE first regular meeting of the Honor Society was held to elect officers for the first semester. Those elected were: lean Kellerman, Presidentg Marylyn Mang, Vice-Presidentg and janet Ellis, Secretary. The customary Christmas tea was held for past members on December 22. About 25 attended. ' A tutoring system was set up by the society for all students who needed help. Student teaching day was sponsored as usual. In addition to teachers, the places of principal and guidance director were filled on February 28. Another of the many tasks which the Hon or Society undertook was concerning the home basketball games.
