JUNIOR HISTORY Weie you one of the proud parents, student, friend or other interested spectator who filled the auditorium one Tuesday morning three years ago ? It was a happy occasion for the members of this class. They had obtained the honor of being the nrst class to receive their diplomas as graduates from Sidney Junior High School. It was a group of bashful, inexperienced girls and boys who humbly received their hard-earned diplomas and took over the responsibilities of the sophomore class. As sophomores we dropped our restraint and began to show possibilities of an excellent class. Financial matters did not concern us greatly but parties and picnics afforded us much enjoyment. On the whole, our sophomore year was a success. lContinuo-d on Page 5631 l29l 'N 11111 1 Nu 1 Ill 0 IIo1otI1x 81111011 Irxf01fIIIuXLk 1t:1 I It I 11111 III 1 fl I 4 1cI 1+ 1 1 lun, I ut1 'klm:11u IIN 1 1 I IIII 1 I I 111 111l1n1 I1 141 I Ill N1111111o III IIIN Hcmy G1tYo1d IIOIKHLK Waters I ohut RIIIIIII ooclmxx Nls 011 011 N IIIX 1 11I11 gl VI L u 1 t N :stu 0 1 Bun 111 IN 1111114 1 111 X1 I4 1 11111 mc IIO IP X 1 Illo Ifllw II 11141 71 IJ 1111 I 11111 IIII lr 1 H1411 111 I I1 1 111 I 0 I obelt C101 111 I C X UTI 1 N mkn 11111 Scotty I 1 ll mt If x X 1It II 1 Nmukx 11 1 ll 114 I Ill Ill X11 Hmk BIOINI1 I-I lllk JI 111: VS omlx 'NIIIM I1 1 11111 I Il IIIIIIIK 811111 tx M1 H IMI 'I 1 Um I II Holm flu k l ll NIUH I -XIIIIIK 1 Xl! SOPHOMORE HISTORY To write a history of the Sophomore class of 1934 in detail would H F'-'U be difficult for me and tiresome for you. Therefore I will make it as - brief as possible. To begin with we have used every oppoitunity offered for - - entertainment, having enjoyed a Halloween. Christmas and a Valentine party, all of which were entirely successful. The members of our class occupy two homerooms, a fact which I makes necessary two staffs of ollicers and two advisers. The advisers are Miss Herkstroter and Miss Goodale. The oliicers are as follows: Presidents-William Bure, Florence MacDonald Vice-Presidents-Annis Johnson, Jean Pittet Secretary-Treasurer-Neilie Gray, Virginia Hancock We have as yet accomplished little financially, but when we are --1 ' r juniors, all I shall say is. Just watch our smoke I Jeanne Clements. l31l SOPHOMORIL JOKES We wonder rf Anne Cllklllln ls tlylllfl' to lmltatc Port lxelton or N1 re We t QWottl galtJ Annls Johlrsorr ls golng to go SNNlfTlYY'llll1,, ag llll when srxs no, tBetter not Alrnls Jean Clements wlll ner do anythllre she shouleln t eNauehtx Naughtx J lxuby Budlne wlll remember that she ln lgh mehool 10h those wlld illnes J Blll Bure ls ex er golng to get out of that sp ll' QDon t let rt get you down J Bob Close IS golng to reserve a eat for after school ln Mrs Goodale room 'rlaybe Jean Bates wlll let xou alt wlth her J Dorm Hotalrng wlll ex er get on the Chase 81 Sanborn Hour Qlxeep rt upJ Fred Rle sen re reallx learnrng to smoke QTrx a Clgdl lfreddleJ Jean Bates rs reallx foollng us wlth that rntelle etual alr 'V er ou never can tell J Jean Plttet wrll prck a boy frlend who won t drrxe her lrrto the drtcho QBe careful JeannleJ VIIQIHIH Hancock ls trylng to corner Albert Dewex 'l fDon t back hrm rnto the lockers agarn J Ruth Banner IS reallx an All Amcrlean glllq els Cornell the only Colle ge J wlth lll the hrgh school fellows' iGet whom xou can eh Mar1'J Madelllre Shafer wlll zllwaxs be a redhead' 1-Xny eolor wlll do J Marlon Mlllll 18 as elulet as she looks' 1Saturdu nlght MarlonJ Theodore Mlnere blushes Vwlll lat' 10h rat rnrroeent lge J Dexere Rosl rs the eaxe man he portray eThcx llke em that wav J l2lLl'ld.lKl Rushton IS trxlne for a plaee of S H S Sllltkl 1Wrong tactles Dean J Iewls Seott wlll alwaxs perslst ln be lng a menace to the studx hall teachers? lWatclr your stepJ Wlllldm Swart wlll always be a hlllbrlly CAfter all rt s a plOfLSSlOn J Perrx C0fldlI1g'f,OI'l ha nt ome secret 113551011 O ou are ll t tellllrg are xou J Flank Dean must alw axs borrow 1 eoemetrs pape 1'lhose angles are puzzllrrg J lol Dorothy Dean IS ln competrtlon wlth Anno C lrkuffq lOh tho e bangs J Plore nee Dun hee doe n t we lke Il the Ire rrt of local boxs lxlot a had start 'llrurstorr Nanderw ort wlll be as quret a hr sl ters eNot when they get aequalnte el eh 'J Charles Hauschllel wouldn t b a glll s dream CDon t b so shr J atherlrle Patt reallx s0 demure and s 5, 1Be elrefullJ Florenec MacDonald benefits by golng to the rrnk H ou neser cant ll about these out of town bars J VJ lunelta Charles sees the preture when she ltte nd th show 'l fThe other partx needs a lot of atten tlon, eh J Roland Barratt wlll go lntu eompetltlon wlth llnd berghq flts along way to fallJ Cornelra Ostrander does all the tl1lTlgQ she clllm eThe nrght arent xerx longJ Albert TOIIHO wlll alwavs be so Mesh f'I'oo bad you re so llttle J Blll Lord s dog hae to take hlm for a walk exerx Illghtq iThex re alw axs together at nrght J Donald Bedell wlll exer danee XXltl'1 any g.lrls 1'Vlaxbe rts just as well J Cllarl s Bl hop wlll exer come down to our own lexel 7 4How s the weather up the re J Nlellle hrlx 18 always so fortun lte as to hare a bor frle nd wlth a c lr' eBetter than walklng anx w ix J Harold MdLDOIldlll won't don lte lrls eurlx loeks ter srne ofhl glrl re es' 4C'm l Hr dc sport'J Dorothv Baker wont exer make urx 110181 1NlL qulet elrl Dorothy J NldOml CJ oree wlll alwaxs be so tuellous' Hou re onl3 xoulrg. onee J I' orerree Walker wlll exer become a flmous a Silllltkk flots of norse anxway 'J 'Vlrrgeerx wlllln must seare people when she blows her nose UNI rer mlnd lt scrxes the purpose J Hernralr Hoeeg r wlll attaln hrs dream of -Xll Qtar Athlete 1Good luek Hermle J Clarenee Jump wlll alwaxb enrv upper ela smen fMaxbe rou ll be one sometlme J lmelett LEWIS l1OY1LlldldI'lCf wlll star wlth lllln llrlarel to hold sometlmes J leon Mel auglrlln lS a natural platrnum blonde eVJhlt some people would do for that'J W Y 'I Q ' V ,V ' V - V - 1 1 1 1 , 12 V K. .V . , . , Y AZ. GGREFLECTOIP, LUB The 'fReHector club was organized again last September with their sole aim to publish an annual of which the school might well be proud. The members were greeted with a most pleasant surprise at their first meeting. ' For, lo and behold, the Board of Education had bequeathed to them a gift of one , hundred and fifty dollars! They were very grateful for this sum since it enabled them I to publish an annual without the extra work of securing advertisements from the business men. The club met every Tuesday and was never seen in a lazy mood. The first two ! ' or three weeks were spent in selecting the theme for the annual, which is the modern- ' istic idea. Then until the annual was published, the club gathered material for the annual, including written work, pictures, cuts, block prints, jokes, essays, and short stories, which was no easy task. ' The club was very fortunate in having Mrs. Gilbert as literary critic, and Mrs. I Young as art critic. They have done more than their share of work, in their en- !
