11 BU 15 YP F6 127 Eff? f'5??'?!gegsg?f9P gg? ,LE UR high school education might be compared to the first act of a broadway play., The first act really prepares the audience for the finale. So too, with our high school education, for it prepares us for the future and teaches us to be good citizens. Little do we, the senior class, realize the influence of the administrators upon our future. Mr. Panas has perhaps been the most influential because all along the way he has given us helpful hints and examples in building this necessary foundation. Although Mr. Taylor, our principal, and Mr, Vogt, our vice principal are relatively new in Shrub Oak School, they have neverthe- less played an important part in our development., Mr., Taylor has al- ways discussed students' problems with us, and frequent chats with both counselors have not been uncommon. Mr. Vogt, our vice principal, but more important, our guidance counselor, has advised us on many occasions throughout our senior year. For some of us, Shrub Oak School will be the last step in our for- mal education, and now as the curtain falls, we would like you to know that we have humbly appreciated all your efforts in guiding us through school, Connecting links be- tween the Board of Ed- ucation, the Administra- tors, members of the faculty, the students and all school person- nel are our school sec- retaries, Mrs. Douglas Trend and Miss Ruth Germack. To them we all bring our jobs , big and small, which keep our school suc- cessfully ffperkingu a- long day by day. Like the prompters at a play rehearsal, they are al- ways on hand to see that the many scenes make up the act, and the acts combine to make the play, our school, a finished production. 5 ' FIRST ROW M1ss Mabel Tompk1ns, Seventh and Elghth Grades, Mr Kenneth P Vogt Vlce Prmclpal Sc1enceandGu1dance Mr Walter Panas, Superv1s1ng Prmclpal Mr Fred B Taylor, Prmclpal Mrs Douglas MacDougal1, Mathematxcs SECOND ROW Mr Rlchard Shlelds, Jumor Hlgh Mr Robert Johnston, Art Mr Hubert Challou Languages Mrs MaryS Kennedy, Commerclal Mlss Ruth E Keevll, Enghsh M1ss Am1eIr1sh, Nurse Mr Daniel Murphy Phys1calEduca t1on and Coach, Mr W11l1am Sh1ne, Band Mr John Sarklsslan SOC1a1 Studles Mrs Paul Osborne, Physical Educat1on fAbsentl, M1ss Phyllls Sm1th, Llbrarlan, KAbsentJ Mrs Stanley Grlerson, Mus1clAbsentJ Mr CharlesM Hlesxger Mr John Davles, D Henry Myer, Mr HowardS Smlth Dr FrederxckM Rauch Presldent Mr Clarence MacNe1ll, Mr C11ffordR1chards, Mr Secor Trav1s, Mr Henry Dresher l- 4 MR. Vogt. In order to maintain a good student body, the Council drafted a Constitution. Promoting better relations and understanding among fellow students, and between classes are among the many objectives of the Council. The Student Council strives for better understanding between the students and teachers. It also encourages higher scholarship and school spirit, helps the stu- dents to gain experience in self-government and enforces the rules and regulations set forth by the administration. Among the accomplish- ments in recent years, we find the G.O. Circus, or Variety Show and the Open House on Saturday nights. Under the direction and guidance of Mrs. Stanley Grierson, the Glee Club proves to be a very successful organization. Its membership consists of students from the ninth through twelfth grades. Twice a year the chorus entertains the public, pro- ducing a Christmas program and a Spring Concert. Besides these concerts, the group takes part occasionally in assembly programs. Of course, some or none of these singers may reach the Opera House, but we at Shrub Oak High School think of them as stars, who provide us with' good singing. 22 -. ..' -at ifiw fyisie a has a 10'qq'. 190 5 GX? .01 oXooW3:rgQ 69 Sxefafhxi, 5 'Q 91 , 1 19 vvevtgexfgsawegivocr?olivvfhcco 90 'db' ve- eve wwf OXO 462' Q39 Ag? vgx QQ 9,1 25 36 fa 10 of . 9 e0 99 X Y C -06' 65 QX 9 Ve?
