TIME MARCHES ON' HOW TO BE A SUCCESSFUL GRADUATE IN FOUR EASY LESSONS CNODAY we are living 1n a modern age when xmprovements are taken so much for granted Did you ever stop to think about each step taken so that Time Marches On so seemingly easy? We're golng to try to tell you how we the senior class marched on Here's our recipe never before released to the public, in four easy steps We warn all underclassmen to take heed' STEP 1 Way back in 1948 the wide eyed Class of '52 started having class meetings With the proudest thoughts of self lmportance we planned our first activity, a movie dance Road Show was the movie which turned out to be a success as we had expected We even made a few dollars profit' Here's a direct quote from the class mmutes We talked about the mlstakes on our March 11 affair so they will not be made agam on May 6 May 6 was the night of our very enjoy able box social We d1dn't make the SAME mistakes only different ones Of course, Step 1 1sn t completed without mentioning our fund raising Sunshme Greeting Cards and Gift Napkins pro ject To be sure this was done very sc1ent1f1cally with mapped out selling districts for each mem ber of the class No need to add that the profits boosted our treasury By the way if you know of anyone who needs a birthday card in a hurry Mrs MacDougall sells them at wholesale costs Yes there are still some unsold' We will them to posterity STEP 2 Now we were gum snapping sophomores By this time we knew of the angles' of our alma mater whlch classes to sleep in and the proper way to shoot paper wads from rubber ban launch1ngs For at least one actlvity that hectic year of '49 we happy go luckies toned down to sponsor a smashing success our One Act Play Contest Participating were Purdy s Yorktown and Shrub Oak We may add with a blush of modesty WE started the Play Contest fad in this 1m medlate vicinity Not even Step 2 went off wlthout trouble Again here are some direct quotes from those reliable archives our class mmutes 'Discussion on Mrs MacDougall s glasses broken chair as soon as the bill comes in Hmmm how did that ever happen? STEP 3 At this step 1n our progress we were mildly shocked to hear that American History Eng lish Chemistry etc were also considered important So during our .Tumor year we managed to absorb a wee bit of education This was the year of the Big Event our .Tumor Prom Being such a capable group we knew that our prom would naturally be a great success We nonchalantly as sumed everythmg would get done by ltS9lf at the last minute Everything WAS done at the last minute even the matter of arranging for escorts Right girls? The gym was beautifully decorated almost two hours before the band arrived' Very few thmgs did go right Six pairs of scissors and a new roll of maskmg tape was found half burned ln the school trash can Mrs MacDougall was most perplexed and certainly annoyed It's a mystery that has never been solved Of course we paid that bill too It was undoubtedly the greatest flnancial flop in the history of proms About the only thing that did not happen that fateful mght was that the weather was with us and it d1dn't ram But we made up for that fallacy by using as the theme of the prom 'Spring Showers P S It was fun' STEP 4 Thls step counts most We were all dumbfounded when we realized it was our last year at Shrub Oak High School Everyone agreed It should be the best Imagine, this was the year of our long planned for Washmgton tr1p and shortly after the solemn eve of commencement' As semors, we had sole rlghts to the candy sellmg concession on the main balcony Shrub Oak High School Here's where we'd make millions' But alas' We soon found out you can't EAT your candy and have it too' W1th our Washmgton trlp in mind we successfully sponsored a 59 Supper Now in the formative stage are three other activities At this wr1t1ng we've Just half spent our senior year but 1f you re read Steps 1 through 3 you'll realize ANYTHING GOES with the Class of 52 AS A FINAL WORD If you would glance through our recipe for successfully Marchmg On you'll come across brief references to a Mrs MacDougall YOU MUST BE SURE to add to the basic lngredlents the help of a class advisor as capable as our own Mrs 'Mac Then sprmkle thoroughly w1th generous portions of friendliness and good humor Result Time Marches On with the greatest of ease Try it' 11 OR 1- ' GK ' 77 ' I ' ' If !7 ' I ' 1 1 ' 7 ' -.
