Following his graduation from the L'.5. Naval Academy in 1960, he served in various operational hillets ahoard L55 5.-XRDA 155 4881, USS SIRAGO t55 -1851, and as Executive Officer ahoard E55 ODAX 155 4841. Between tours ahoard these suhrnarines he served in operational and staff intelligence hillets within the squadron and group levels of the Submarine Force and on the staff of Comrnander, Suhmarine Force, IQS. Atlantic Fleet. ln 107-1, Captain Ianucci reported for duties as Executive Officer, USS CORONADO LLPD-111. Following his tour aboard Coronado, in October 1070, he assumed cornniand of USS PORTLAND LLSD 371 and served in that capacity until he reported to the pre-commissioning detail of IQSS NASSAU LLHA -tl in Decernher 1078. Captain lanucci served as the first Executive Officer of Nassau until July 1081 when he was transferred to the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations for duty as the Head of the Amphibious Ship Aquisition and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Branch. Captain Ianucci was assigned to the OPNAY Staff until March 1053. In addition to his schooling at the Naval Academy, Captain Ianucci is also a graduate of the US. Naval Submarine School and the Defense Intelligence Post Graduate School. Raised on Long Island out- wide of New York City, he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in In- drrwtrial Engineering. He received his commiwion through the Reserve Officer Candidate Program and graduated from Officer Candidate School in the same year. He continued his education after commiseioning and received a Master of Science Degree from American Universi- ty in Computer Systems!Management Information Systems in 1974. His U.S. Navy echooling includes Gunnery School in 1969, Surface Warfare Officer's School Department Head Course in 1975, Split Tour Engineer Officer Course in 1980, and Prospective Executive Officer Course in 1983. Commander Cannon wears the Navy Achievement Medal. He was designated as Surface Warfare Offi- cer in 1972.
