Calendar SEPTEMBER- 2-Olur school year opened with 126 subjects, nine dictators and two janitors, all ready for the big year a ea ! 6-Shoshone Indians bow to the Gooding Senators in first football game of the season. 12-Indians step out of their territory and play practice game with Twin Falls-beat again! 13-Friday the 13th seemed to cast no shadow on the attendance of our first big hep of the year. 16-After a long wait the Seniors get their class rings, but it was worth it. 18-The Froshies were duly recognized on their annual Initiation Day. The girls wore gunny sacks and the boys wore dresses and long underwearg everyone had starched hair. Kangaroo Court was held in the gym and they were properly put in their places. All survived the ordeal and proved to be good sports. 20-Defeated again! This time on J erome's field, 6-19. 30-The Mississippians, a Negro quartet, entertained Student Body in our first National Assembly. OCTOBER- 4-Victory is ours at last! We won our first triumph over the Glenns Ferry River Pilots, and everyone cele- brated by going to the Apron and Overall Dance in the auditorium. 10-A Snake Dance was done through the streets of Shoshone, winding up at the ball park where the Freshmen had built a 15 foot bonfire. Everyone joined in a pep rally around the fire to beat Hagerman the next day. 11-After a hard fought battle Indians scalp Hagerman Pirates. 14-28-School is out for two weeks-many students turn out to be expert spud pickers! 25-Indians romp Hailey Wolverines 33-6, even after not having practiced for two weeks. 30-Masquerade dance at auditorium brought forth many odd-looking characters. NOVEMBER- 1-Northside Championship game at Wendell. We have one-point victory regardless of freezing weather and many penalties. 8-Another big gain sent Paul Panthers back to their own territory. 11-Southside Championship game at Twin Falls with Kimberly proves to be a nothing doing game, 0-0, but with plenty of excitement! 15-New records draw big crowd to school dance. 22-Annual Senior Ball put on by Class of '47. The theme was Winter Wonderland and the auditorium was decorated very appropriately, with music furnished by Arlon Bastian. Nice profits, too!! 25--Bobo, the Magician, mystifies students with his many magical tricks. 27-Girls' League sponsor dance in gym. The Home Ec room had more attendance than the dance floor-could it have been the cider and pie? 28-Everybody left school empty handed thinking only of the big Thanksgiving turkey that was coming up. DECEMBER- 5-Gooding Glee Club under direction of Donald Stroh provided an hour's enjoyment for students. 6-First basketball game of season is held at Dietrich with Indians coming out on top. 10-Gooding Senators prove to be too much to handle for Indian Braves. 13-Several band students go to clinic in Gooding while remainder of student body have an assembly in the afternoon on astrology. 13-Indians scalp Jerome in a fast game, 35-31, followed by a war dance in the gym. 17-Return game with Jerome, but this time, not so successful. 18-Indians victory flag waves aagin-this time over Filer Wildcats. 20-Happy Days! Santa Claus visited S. H. S. and left candy and presents for everyone. Dancing and sing- ing Christmas carols occupied the rest of the afternoon, then school was dismissed for ten big days. 21-Boys take weekend and go down to play Nampa Bulldogs. Not so lucky, though, 31-43. 30-School takes up again and boys take a 41-37 win over Bellevue.
