zstovfy Glass of 1938 0 Wtth twelve of 1ts orrglnal members stlll farthful to tts ranks the Class of l938 has reached 1ts destmatlon Although we may be sllghtly weathered by the Journey we feel that our efforts to garn an educatlon and broaden our mlnds have not been rn vam Known as an extra actrve group we have 1ust1f1ed our reputatlon Wh1le ln the prrrnary grades we were actrve 1n the Iune plays whrch marked the grade commence ment exercrses at that tlme Whlle m the fffth grade we wrote and edlted our own newspaper blmonthly purchasmg lrbrary books wtth the proceeds from the sale The next year we agaln exh1b1ted our dramauc tendenc1es w1th Satone Stoddard Betty Datthyn Charles Morgan and Roy Farns worth takmg leadxng roles rn the operetta The Blue Belt Twelve of the or1g1nals completed the erghth grade and our class took part 1n the only grade commencement and class day School We found several new members w1th us as we Freshmen entered the Study Hall m l934 We were glad to greet the new gym naslum-as our boys are all athletlcally 1n cltned the renovated l1brary and the new muslc department As Freshmen we enloy ed many partres p1cn1cs and an eventful slelghrrde wrth MISS Iohnsons help As Sophomores our class plcmc to Glov er s woods our Hallowe en party and extra currlcular act1v1t1es occupred most of our spare moments Those dramatlcally 1ncl1n ed Gertrude Satone Betty Margaret L11 l1an Helen Boy and Gordon found outlets for the1r talents ln stellar roles 1n Hearts and Blossoms the operetta g1ven by the Glee Club We began to reahze the results of our lcbors when we entered our Iunror year and found ourselves spoken of as upper classmen Havlng fafled rn our attempts to collect class dues we sponsored class dances after basketball games Wrnner of SHS frrst annual prng pong tournament was Boy Farnsworth of our class St1ll actrve rn sports we enthuslasttcally helped to ed1t H1 Lo l937 and were act1ve members of clubs of many types To cl1max thls year we entertamed the Semors at a p1cn1c at Owasco Lake Llttle dld we reallze how near we were to the end of our htgh school days when we entered the Sen1or room for we found ourselves agaln wrth Mrss Iohnson our former Freshman advlsor As Senlors we the year we presented our Senror play The Phantom Bells whlch was both a dramatlc and a f1nanc1al success thanks to Mr Henderson The Senlor boys were the marnstays of a basketball team whrch was champron of 1ts own sectlon and of a base ball team worthy of mentlon Dur1ng the Spr1ng recess we held our Senlor Ball whlch was enJoyed to the ut most by all who attended Thrs was the clrmax the antl chmax the party g1ven 1n our honor by the Tumor Class near the end of our hlgh school career Betty Datthyn 1.-7' my if I I - . exercises ever held in Shortsville High have been busy to the nth degee, Eqrly in . , , , g f .
