Educational Although Shortridge possesses pri- marily an educational atmosphere, the surrounding feelings vary with the student and activity changes. A heterogeneous atmosphere prevails as both freshmen and seniors enter the first day. Small and insecure, the freshman becomes the victim of the entanglement of anxiety and excite- ment as he enters a totally new en- vironment. In contrast, the senior walks proudly — proudly because he has finally become a member of that elite group. He has achieved the posi- tion for which he has strived for three years. Emotionally, electricity surges through the student body as they cheer wildly for their team and their coach. ROMPING IN THE SNOW provides a healthy and exhilarating outlet for stored up energy. STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS add the finishing touches of tinsel and bells to the cafeteria Christmas

LINDA QUINNEY steadily concentrates on a class assignment. Faces Reflect Acts, Emotions of Qtudents Just as a mirror reflects a person ' s image, his face reflects his emotions and thoughts. It has often been said that a picture Is worth a thousand words. The some theory can be ap- plied to the human face, for no words con ever relate the disappointment and sadness exhibited by tears streaming down the face of a girl whose team has lost. A dedicated scholar does not smile when he performs an experiment, but his eyes glow with the joy of learning. A flashing smile belongs to a winning Vaudeville act chairman. A closed mouth, blank eyes belong to a loser. Red, half-closed eyes characterize a student who attempts to cram six weeks learning into one night. A FAMILIAR FACE, Richard Wood daily stands before his Biology classes as do the many other member; of the faculty.
