In four years We have learned to love you, Shortridge! Your majestic entrance: Symbol of dignity and tradition. Your wide halls Resounding with gay young voices And banging locker doors: Symbol of youthful spirit. Your gym and athletic field, Home of the Blue Devils, Where the band plays And the students cheer-Awin or lose: Symbol of undying loyalty. The classrooms and laboratories: Symbol of the knowledge you impart. Your teachers . . . capable . . . eager: Symbol of your concern for our future. The Charity Dye Library . . . The Selleck Art Gallery . . . The court in spring: Symbol of your cultural environment. Caleb Mills Hall Scene of inspiring auditoriums, Noon movies, senior and all-school plays And Junior Vaudevilles: Symbol of traditional entertainment. The ECHO, CHRISTMAS ECHO, the ANNUAL: Symbol of literary achievement. The cafeteria where lunch period And the coke hour seem too short: Symbol of the fun you offer us. The clubs we joined . . . the friends we made: Symbol of friendship. These are all part of you, Shortridge, And we, too, are part of you.
