EDM lue Club May I help you? is the motto of the Big Sisters, who greet incoming freshmen and show them around school. The group also sponsors a mixer each semester for students new to the school. A dinner party was held February 21, in honor of Mrs. Della Thompson, retired sponsor. After addressing the group, Mrs. Thompson was presented with a token of appreciation. Miss Eleanor Dunlap is sponsor. fzoquis The Croquis Club, sponsored by Miss Jane Messick, celebrated its eighth anniversary this year. Meetings for the fifty member.s are held on alternate Thursdays in room 317. Club activities have centered around trips to the John Herron Art Institute and Indiana Ar- tists' Exhibitions, meetings at which films were shown and lectures given by several professional artists, and two parties for new members. The feeling of fun and sportsmanship prevails among the club members, who are divided into teams. Skill in bowling is developed in weekly practices. Chairmen this year were Dotti Friedland and Beverly Bourne. The club is sponsored by Miss Alice Jane Hessler. io ogy The newest club at Shortridge is the Biology Club, of which Donald Klopp is sponsor. It is the purpose of the club to get all those interested in Biology together for meetings and field trips. In December, the club helped with the Audubon Society's Bird Count and in February made a trip to the Oaklandon Dam. Monthly meetings are held. 0 BIOLOGY CLUB: lst row- G. D. The club is a chapter of the Girls, Athletic Association of Indiana. To become a member a girl is required to have from 250 to 500 points in various extra-curricular sports. Five hundred points are need- ed for membership, and 250 points are needed to become a candidate. Mrs. Mary Treichler is sponsor. It is one of several groups of the Camp Fire Girls. An all-city meeting is held once a month. They prepared sixty dozen cookies for the U.S.O. at the home of their sponsor, Miss Louise Reiter. The cookies were taken to the Union Station Service Center. During the spring semester, a murder comedy in German was presented. Membership tryouts were held each semester. - l .
