Qvzls ow mg vague Members of the Girls, Bowling League spend each Wednesday afternoon at the bowling alleys, where they gain points for letter sweaters. The feeling of fun and sportsmanship prevails among the club members, who are divided into teams. Skill in bowling is developed in weekly practices. Chairmen this year were Dotti Friedland and Beverly Bourne. The club is sponsored by Miss Alice Jane Hessler. io ogy The newest club at Shortridge is the Biology Club, of which Donald Klopp is sponsor. It is the purpose of the club to get all those interested in Biology together for meetings and field trips. In December, the club helped with the Audubon Society's Bird Count and in February made a trip to the Oaklandon Dam. Monthly meetings are held. 0 BIOLOGY CLUB: lst row- G. D. Shull, sponsor. ible Club Credit toward graduation is offered by the Bible Club. Classes are held twice a Week, and a program is given every Wednesday afternoon. It is bo3th devotional and social. The members have had many large parties throughout the year, including Christmas and Valentine celebrations. A number of programs have been given at the Juvenile Center, orphanages, and old folks' homes. Often Well-known speakers visit the meetings. The sponsor is Carl Erickson. Stamp Philatelists have their own club at Shortridge. Members of the Stamp Club display the contents of their books and collections of unusual stamps. They also have quizzes and drawing games for which prizes of blocks of stamps are given. Auc- tioning of stamps occurs at each Weekly meet- ing. Collectors often speak to members about their hobby. EDM lue Club May I help you? is the motto of the Big Sisters, who greet incoming freshmen and show them around school. The group also sponsors a mixer each semester for students new to the school. A dinner party was held February 21, in honor of Mrs. Della Thompson, retired sponsor. After addressing the group, Mrs. Thompson was presented with a token of appreciation. Miss Eleanor Dunlap is sponsor. fzoquis The Croquis Club, sponsored by Miss Jane Messick, celebrated its eighth anniversary this year. Meetings for the fifty member.s are held on alternate Thursdays in room 317. Club activities have centered around trips to the John Herron Art Institute and Indiana Ar- tists' Exhibitions, meetings at which films were shown and lectures given by several professional artists, and two parties for new members.
