Stu- dents who attend History Club meetings do. The club, sponsored by Mrs. Danna Huffman, offers a varied program which includes historical and current events, quizzes, and book reviews on his- torical iiction. A war activity of the club has been keeping the Shortridge War Scrapbook. The members continued their pro- ject of giving aid to students failing in mathe- matics. The club has had several guest speakers: Wil- liam Johnson, Robert J. Shultz, Frank B. Wade, Miss Mona Jane Wilson, and Enoch Burton. A Christmas party and a spring picnic added to the club's festivities. Miss Ellen Ocker is the sponsor. Aside from Writing a large part of the Christmas Echo, members of the club participat- ed in a radio show of the club's activities. The club is open to those in English IVX or above who have maintained an A average in English. Membership is determined by the quality of short stories submitted by aspirants. enate The Shortridge Senate remains the school's political melting pot, boiling with blasting ora- tory and seething with political intrigue, since re-organization of several parties has been completed. The Senate is patterned after our nation's Senate in rules and organization. The members assume names of U. S. Senators and debate and pass upon issues of the day, drawn up as bills and resolutions Mrs. Annalee Miller sponsors this unique club. Shull, sponsor. ible Club Credit toward graduation is offered by the Bible Club. Classes are held twice a Week, and a program is given every Wednesday afternoon. It is bo3th devotional and social. The members have had many large parties throughout the year, including Christmas and Valentine celebrations. A number of programs have been given at the Juvenile Center, orphanages, and old folks' homes. Often Well-known speakers visit the meetings. The sponsor is Carl Erickson. Stamp Philatelists have their own club at Shortridge. Members of the Stamp Club display the contents of their books and collections of unusual stamps. They also have quizzes and drawing games for which prizes of blocks of stamps are given. Auc- tioning of stamps occurs at each Weekly meet- ing. Collectors often speak to members about their hobby.
