Aside from Writing a large part of the Christmas Echo, members of the club participat- ed in a radio show of the club's activities. The club is open to those in English IVX or above who have maintained an A average in English. Membership is determined by the quality of short stories submitted by aspirants. enate The Shortridge Senate remains the school's political melting pot, boiling with blasting ora- tory and seething with political intrigue, since re-organization of several parties has been completed. The Senate is patterned after our nation's Senate in rules and organization. The members assume names of U. S. Senators and debate and pass upon issues of the day, drawn up as bills and resolutions Mrs. Annalee Miller sponsors this unique club. S. fseniofz The Senior S.P.Q.R. is sponsored by Miss Jane Curry, and its purpose is to provide an outlet for classical interest. Its programs have been arranged to suit the interests of the older group particularly. In October the horoscopes of all members were read. In January Margaret Mason gave a talk on Ni- jinsky, the great Russian ballet dancer. Its purpose is to give an added in- terest in the classics and a background in reading. A Ha1loWe'en party Was given in October. In January, the motion picture, Aesop's Fables, was shown. Stu- dents who attend History Club meetings do. The club, sponsored by Mrs. Danna Huffman, offers a varied program which includes historical and current events, quizzes, and book reviews on his- torical iiction. A war activity of the club has been keeping the Shortridge War Scrapbook. The members continued their pro- ject of giving aid to students failing in mathe- matics. The club has had several guest speakers: Wil- liam Johnson, Robert J. Shultz, Frank B. Wade, Miss Mona Jane Wilson, and Enoch Burton. A Christmas party and a spring picnic added to the club's festivities. Miss Ellen Ocker is the sponsor.
