Shorter graduates are prepared to fill their places in either peace or war. They are not only ready to give, but they have something to give! In this year of 1942-1943 the girls who have gone out from Shorter are making a real contribution to their country in a time of world struggle. We are con- fident that the Class of 1943 will leave prepared to do their part and so be- come worthy additions to the Alumnae of Shorter. LOUISE BENNET, Dean of Student Affairs. Seniors, as you graduate from Shorter and assume the full responsibility of living in the most complex world of all time, may you hold fast to those high virtues of every Shorter Girl: learning, wisdom, love, laughter, be- lief in mankind, and the joy of serv- ice. You will continue to be of Shorter and she will become the richer through your abundant living. EVERETT E. PORTER, Academic Dean. 13 - ' - A iiit ' i = ' : ' ' V-j SSSKSSf

THE PRESIDENT AND THE DEMS TO THE SENIOR CLASS: It will be your privilege more than that of any other class graduating from Shorter College in the last twenty-five years to make your education effective because of a world at war. Also, in the post-war world you will be expected to give direc- tion to the community life in which you will live. I have every confidence in your ability to meet the demands which will be made on you as college women. And this personal word. I shall remember with increasing gratitude the many ways in which you have interpreted the ideals of your alma mater and the fine spirit of comradeship we have shared together as we have worked during these four years. PAUL M. COUSINS, President. 12
