Alpha Club consisted ofseveral offi- cers, a few math-lovers. plus some passengers, Mrs. Shreve and Mrs. Chamberlain advised the club, and Charlie Vuong served as president. Meetings were usually held on Wednesdays either after school or dur- ing lunch, Cplaying with numbers while eating hamburgersj, and the ob- ject at the one hour meeting was to figure out a few interesting math prob- lems. After trying their best. the math- ematicians got answer sheets and dis- cussed the problems together. A typi- cal gourmet mueh might include: There is nothing more enjoyable than to solve and trickly problems suc- cessfully while others aren't able to do sog or to know a smarter way for solv- ing problems. Occasionally Mrs. Shreve would generously give candy as a prize. FACTCRYXVICA 1984 The FACTORY is a vocational program open to students from Shoreline, Shorecrest, and Shorewood. Taught by Mrs. Jan. Robertson, students are instructed in ski jacket design and later may move on to jeans, sweat suits, drapes and blazer construction during their second year. Many students sell their projects to people in the community. The FAC- appreciated by the community. Ai C Working For A Living VICA, which stands for Vocational Industrial Clubs of Amer- ica, is a club which trains students in trade, industrial, technical and health occupations. Drafting and Wood Technology are the main emphasis. The group is led by Mr. Bruce McBurney and competes with other VICA groups in the state and nation. E IOR DECA 1984 Members of Senior DECA tl to rj David Roufs, Ron Francom, Lisa Harrison, Star Davis, Chris Norsby, Mark Clark, Greg Fullner, Ann Ferry, Shelley Holmes, Ron Sa- lud, Annette Eagles, Jim Steers, Darin Ple- mel, Stacy Shultz. Darilyn Johnson, Diana MacGregor, Christy Batdorf, Vicky Soule. Nancy Holman, Tammi Bragg, Jill Camp, Kelli Brookbush, Traci Carter, Greg Brooks, Christy Johnson, Kevin Chavis, Mr. Harry Moore, Margie Slater, Ron Craig, Maria Bowen. Senior Deca, led by Mr. Harry Moore was very active in Shoreline this year. DECA, which represents Distributive Clubs of America, is a class which trains students in merchandizing and retailing techniques. The most visible efforts of DECA were seen in the Key- stone Korner, the school store and in Harry's Corner the concession stand in Shoreline Stadium. DECA was also instrumental in spon- soring Spartan activities. This year DECA sponsored the Homecoming mums, the Halloween Costume Dance and the Valentines Day For- mal Tolo Just The Two of Us . DECA hosted the Area l training ses- sion at Shoreline in October. DECA then went on to participate in the Western Leadership Conference in Spokane in November, Area l Com- petition during February, and State Competition during April. DECA is a very active club in Shore- line and its many school activities give Spartans reason to be proud.
