Lander, Johnson Head English Department Mr. F. J. johnson became head of the English Department in January, 1964. Mr. Johnson replaced Mr. Richard E. Lander when Mr. Lander became head of the humanities division at the Shoreline Community College. In the past 15 years English has been redefined to illustrate its three separate components: literature, composition and language. Fifty percent of class time is devoted to literature, 35 percent is spent on composition, and 15 percent of the time is allotted for language. Team teaching, a relatively new program at Shoreline, is designed to aid col- lege bound students. Two days a week, students listen to lectures given by various instructors, after which small groups are formed for further discussion. The program en- compasses sophomore English, sen- ior English intensive, and U. S. his- tory and junior English combined. twig , , . ' z : '. ., I .fairs MRS. GAIL EVANS: English 12, Reg., Int., TT.
