They then receive a certificate with their names on it. This is the second year of the program at SC, and was designed so that more students could be recognized for their academic hard work. The National Merit Scholarship Pro- gram recognized and honored outstan- ding students around the country. Over one million students compete in the pro- gram eve year, with ap roximately thirty-five Thousand gaining the coveted commended student award, and fifteen thousand earning a semi-finalist award. As well as supporting the student body In general A-Team members support themselves, too. Led by Mr. Majorowicz, this year's A-Team was stronger than ever. Within the first semester, they sponsored events such as a drug free dance, self esteem assemblies, show- ed drunk driving movies during lunches, attended weekend drug awareness seminars, and made several presentations to local elementary and junior high schools.
